One Block Radius featuring Fabolous and Baby Bash - You Got Me

Random Lyric:
Mama it's been a long time
Finally your baby boy about to shine
I've been on my grind

Lightweight fare from One Block Radius which, one supposes, is necessary in hip hop. Not everything has to be the down and dirty, gritty, in your face type music. We're not dancing or smoking dope (mostly) in this one. The lyrics try to get a little bit below the surface, but the delivery doesn't quite match the conception. Perhaps it the previous offerings from Baby Bash and Fabolous that take a little bit away. They're good rhymers, but hardly deep thinkers.

The song is pulled off in a pretty decent fashion, but at the end, there's nothing to make you remember it. After the first few listens, even the hook didn't roll around in the head. That's probably not a good sign. With a close listen, you can hear the ambition and the mixed, but mostly positive, message. They talk about things like, if I reach the top, you can come to.

At the same time, the song hints at selling drugs or something else about doing what they gotta do that might not necessarily be legal. One wonders if this song would have felt better if they had just kept it real. We say this all the time: if you're selling dope, you don't have time to rap. If you're rapping, you don't have time to sell drugs. Stop saying you are because we know better.
Banger or booty: by the end, it ends up booty.
