Random Lyric:
And you don't even have to ask twice,
We can have my heart or we can share it like the last slice
Did you grow up watching "Degrassi: The Next Generation." Reruns are probably still running on one of the Nickelodeon networks on the high numbered cable channels. So then there's Jimmy Brooks, the basketball player with some spark of an artistic side. He ended up getting shot by another character and was confined to a wheelchair. The actor that played Jimmy is Aubrey Graham who's middle name is Drake and that's what he's doing these days. Affiliated with Lil Wayne's Young Money clique, but nevertheless signed to the parent label.
Okay, that felt like a "Where Are They Now" segment but the back story ends up being important in establishing Drake as a performer with some experience. Further into the song, you'll hear his thin singing voice. Better for him is that he has a little bit of a flow so he raps for the majority of the song.
At the heart of it, this is a love song, it's just not pulled off very well. His rhyme style is pretty pedestrian considering he's in the orbit of Wayne's World. He's a generic rhymer at best. The beats are nothing special. The producer didn't spend much time at the 808 this time. Perhaps there are better things to come, but this one, while climbing the charts, seems to be instantly forgettable.
Banger or booty: booty
